G’Ra Asim is a writer, a musician, and an assistant professor of English at Washington University in St. Louis. His debut nonfiction book, Boyz n the Void: a mixtape to my brother, was named one of the best nonfiction titles of 2021 by Kirkus Reviews. He has served as writing director at the African American Policy Forum and as a graduate teaching fellow in Columbia’s Undergraduate Writing Program. His work has appeared in Slate, The Boston Globe, Guernica, The Baffler, and The New Republic. When not writing prose or teaching, he fronts the pop punk band Baby Got Back Talk, who were named one of Alternative Press’s 17 black alternative bands leading the next generation and one of idobi Network’s 100 Rising Artists to Listen To.
