University. The Pure Lover is Plante’s powerful response to his
life partner’s death of brain cancer. It is a book about grief, memory,
loss, and above all, love. In it, Plante traces Nikos’s life, drawing on
Greek themes from Nikos’s heritage, and ultimately tells their love story,
