Truly a gift, one that will echo in my own preaching and teaching, and
in my own life as well. Like Moses gazing at the Promised Land he would not
enter, Forrest Church blesses us with his eloquence, his faith and mostly his
love.

Beacon Acquisitions:
Veteran LGBT activist and award-winning academic Michael Bronski will write
An LGBT History of the United States. This is the second book in
Beacons new history seriesthe first was Roxanne Dunbar Ortizs
An Indigenous History of the United States. Remarkably, theres
no single book that covers the entirety of LGBT history, from colonial times
to the present, and whats exciting is that Bronskis goal is not
to simply fill in the gaps but to construct a new way of interpreting
and understanding the history of the United Statesan essential goal
of this series and, indeed, Beacons list. More than a fusion of previously
published books, Bronskis history will, additionally, draw from primary
source material including letters, diaries, and first person accounts to produce
an intellectually solid, accessible, and altogether innovative way of examining
queer history. Fall 2009
