Race, Education, & Democracy: A Simmons College/Beacon Press Lecture and Book Series

The Race, Education and Democracy Lecture and Book Series, a collaborative effort of Simmons College and Beacon Press, will annually bring to Boston a prominent scholar to deliver four to five public lectures on the topic of Race, Education and Democracy. These lectures will form the basis for a book, which will be published by Beacon Press.

The 2009 lecture series is being delivered by Dr. Linda Darling Hamilton, Charles E. Ducommun Professor of Education at Stanford University, and former executive director of the National Commission on Teaching and America’s Future, a blue-ribbon panel whose 1996 report led to sweeping policy changes affecting teaching and teachers.
